Although I'm sure she is, she usually doesn't seem aware of my presence. This afterrnoon she did seem to notice me.

I guess she determined I wasn't a threat and stood up rearranging the eggs, using her bill—turning them around, changing their positions.

Then she began to pick down from her lower body and put it on top of the eggs. After she sat on the eggs again, she began picking up the down (with her bill) outside the nest and moving it under her body.

While she did this, I noticed two things. First, that the eggs were covered with more down than earlier pictures show. I think she did this to protect the eggs so another one isn't lost.

The second thing I noticed was the way she moved the eggs, and the way the piling slopes on the right side of the nest, probably the egg fell out of the nest when she was adjusting the eggs. No dramatic attack on the nest.

About an hour later I saw her return to the nest from the water. I just missed R&R. Father Goose was right there.

While I watched her, I saw that she wasn't just sitting as she usually does. I think she'd been waiting for Father Goose so she could take a break.

Next week at this time we should see goslings!
